Chapter 3

Well I didn't finish by the 30th. But I did finish most of it.

Sunday 4/26

My Sunday was quiet. All I did was clean up my Journal and make my lists for the week. For the next three days I will be clearing off the patio; weeding, sweeping and organizing.

Monday 4/27

Have you ever disrupted the lives of millions of spiders? My bug population must be through the roof. I cleaned wood boards and bricks off the patio. I found eggsacs everywhere and webbing and SPIDERS!!!!!!!!! I am scared to DEATH of SPIDERS. After I finished with the boards, I started the weeding and the sweeping. What a mess! I cleaned around the barbeque as well. Get ready for summer fun! Whoopy!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday 4/28

Day 2 of Let's tick off the SPIDERS!!!!!!!! I was cleaning the fenceline of the patio, sweeping, weeding, replacing the bricks and just basically having a war of domination with nasty black spiders. Sigh! AFTER that I hacked down weeds everywhere, some (even growing through the cracks) as tall as I am. I found my potted grapes in all that mess and put them in their places along the cleaned fenceline. They need raising, I have some old bricks. I already raised one of my berry pots. I weeded alot of pots and moved them. (Don't ever let anyone tell you pots get less weeds. If you have birds, wind or four legged creatures there will be weeds.) I had to use a rake and a broom on the huge pile of dirt and weeds on the patio. Argh! The cinder block wall and the 1/2 moon raised bed still need weeding and cleaning. The wall will be planted, I'm trying to keep the bees from making hives there. Bees are wierd.

Wednesday 4/29

The best laid plans and all that rubbish. 2 doctors appointments, 2 stops at gem and bead shops and home to do yard work. That was the plan. HA! Our car decided to DIE! Rotten battery. When we FINALLY got home, it was time to eat and go get my aunt. Sigh! (Huge, mammoth, disgusted, frustrated, annoyed SIGH) When the family got home, I was able to go outside. I finished cleaning up the large pile of rubbish, weeded and cared for my plumerias and cleaned up the berry vines. I hacked up more evil weeds and again annoyed spiders.I found a brown widow, very cool, with her red orange hour glass. I squashed her, sorry spider lovers. I got everything finished except for the 1/2 moon and the wall. Oh and raising the pots. I'm putting off grape tending a little but they'll be okay.

Thursday 4/30

Went to dinner for my uncle's birthday. Cafe Pacifica in Old Town, San Diego. Awesome place, food was great! Yard work was cancelled.

Friday 5/1

I weeded the wall. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! My scream of horror is due to the 2" (yes 2") Black Widow and the six or seven (no I'm not exaggerating) eggsacs I found. I also found ants (yuck). I killed yet another spider (shudder) and then dumped potting soil into the wall pockets. It's a two part process. First fill the pockets, water and let settle. Second, fill again and plant. When I turned my attention to the 1/2 moon, I put my hand through yet another spider web (whimper). Despite being the wrong time of year, I chopped down my poinsettia. I cleaned out the weeds and dead bulb plants. It got dark before I could finish.

Saturday 5/2

I prepped for planting the wall and the 1/2 moon. I gathered all the things I needed. Leftover bulbs, 4" plants and more potting soil. I have two plumerias that need planting. I also noticed that all the pots on the patio needs feeding. Great!

Next week the fun starts. Thanks for reading!
